So proud of the scouts for staying with us through the zooms to meeting back tonight. Still some way to go, but a great start back. Big congrats to Danny who did an excellent presentation tonight for his gold award. Congratulations from all at 2nd Rossendale. Excellent to hear everything he's done and achieved whilst with 2nd. Wish him the very best in explorers. All the scouts should be very proud and a huge thanks to all the leaders for their efforts over the last twelve months. Enjoy some scout section pictures from tonight.

Finally I just wanted to say a big personal thank you to all at 2nd past and present. The support you've given me over the last few months has been amazing. Words cannot express how much I appreciate your support. It proves how strong we are as a group.

Thank you Mikey

Hello All,

As we move forward to Step 2 on the Government Roadmap, It's time for an update.

There are changes from the Scout Association from W/C 12/04/2021 - the key changes from the current Amber status of 29/3/2021 are:

1. Beavers, Cubs, Scouts and Explorers will be able to meet indoors, with no legal limit on youth numbers, however you should keep it as one section meeting at a time with flexibility for smaller sections to join together if required. It’s important to remember that physical space will be limited and social distancing of two metres between everyone will be required. You should continue to take all measures to stop transmission and we would recommend most sections to continue meeting outdoors if they can.
2. Scout Network may also meet indoors but will be limited to maximum group sizes of 15. We continue to encourage outdoor meetings where you can.
3. Adult activities can only take place outdoors and should follow the current Government guidance.
4. Trips and visits are now accepted, however these should only be done where you cannot stay local to achieve the outcomes and each must be completed within a day as residential activities remain prohibited.

All the previously approved CV19 risk assessments that were approved at a District level remain current & valid as long as we have made no changes to them. For simplicity we have not altered them & our plan is to re-open Face to Face meetings W/C 12/04/2021. These RA have been re-submitted & uploaded as needed to OSM.

We have followed all the guidelines holding a Leaders meeting 06/04/2021 & consent has been sought from Beavers, Cubs & Scouts' parents for their children to start a blended programme once every 2 weeks of Zoom & Face to Face meetings initially outdoors only & for the Band members to reconvene Face to Face in the Scout building & outdoors (as required, with a specific RA to be approved for where).

With this in mind our initial sessions for each of the Sections are as follows:

Beavers - Campfire in a local outdoor Arena 13/04/2021 from 6.00pm to 7.00pm
Scouts - as above but from 7.30pm to 8.30pm
Cubs - as above but the following week 20/04/2021

Senior Band - Scout HQ 14/04/2021 at 7.30pm with Training & Junior Band aiming to re-start in a few weeks & finally Silver Band when allowed.

It has been a paperwork overload for all Leaders involved. They are all approved now & uploaded onto OSM & SmartSheets as needed. Hopefully this will get less onerous as time goes on. However, it will hopefully improve the communications between different Groups in the District. Some of our Leaders are also doing DofE Supervisor/Assessor training.

Thanks for your help & support throughout the last unprecedented 13 months.

Kind regards

Tina Dwyfor-Jones
